Band of the Day – Birdmonster
You know when you have those days when you’re going about your normal business and because you have 3734 songs on your iTunes, a song comes on that you don’t recognize, but that blows your ass away? Today was one of those days and Birdmonster’s “Resurrection Song” just punched me in the ear. I’m guessing that it came with a sampler CD from Magnet magazine because that’s what Wikipedia just told me. Thanks, Wik.

So, here’s the short explanation of the band, as it’s pretty much all that know right now – Birdmonster was formed in 2004 in San Francisco by four childhood friends. They paid $500 to have their song on a CD sample (read: last paragraph) and the song attracted more than just my attention, and the band was offered some recording deals. They turn ‘em down and released an album, No Midnight, themselves. The album was later picked up for distro by SpinArt. According to a recent blog post, the band are in Chicago recording a follow-up, so that’s nice. If I had to use two bands to reference them, I’d say Two Gallants meets ยกForward, Russia!
